When we think about car accidents, we often think of one-off incidents. We think about fender benders, impacts with semi-trucks, etc. Sometimes, though, we are involved in accidents that are actually part of a series of accidents with a negligent driver. This appears to be the case for a local that was killed on I-65 near Edinburgh. The series of unfortunate events Early this month, in Bartholomew County, Indiana, a big rig struck and killed an Indianapolis man on I-65, according to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office. The impact occurred just before 9:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65, where the local was running across the highway near the Edinburgh exit. Prior to this deadly encounter though, according to BCSO, the Indianapolis man stole a car, crashed that car and was in the process of fleeing that scene when he was struck by the semi-truck. After the series of unfortunate events The local who was struck by the semi in the truck accident was pronounced dead on the scene of the final accident. The driver of the big rig though, was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital, not for injuries, but for a blood draw. This is standard procedures for BCSO after fatal car accidents, but the police do not believe the semi-truck driver was intoxicated at the time of the impact. BCSO and the Indiana State Police are still investigating the accident, and any witnesses are encouraged to contact the police. For Indianapolis, Indiana, car accident victims, the first call after 9-1-1 should be to an attorney. Through a personal injury lawsuit, car accident victims can get the justice and compensation they deserve.
